What I can't do on a driveway: MOT tests, wheel alignment, gearbox rebuilds or bodywork. If you need one of those I'll tell you straight and point you to someone good.

Same mechanic. Same tools. Your driveway.

Everything a garage does to your car, I do at your home or work. Here’s why that’s better.

Keep your day

No drop-off, no courtesy car, no waiting room. The work happens while you get on with your life.

Same qualifications

I’m City & Guilds Level 3 qualified in light vehicle service and repair, Level 2 in hybrid and electric vehicles, and certified in air-con and refrigerant handling, with 5 years in workshops. The garage’s advantage is the building, not the mechanic.

Pay for the work, not the showroom

No reception desk, no retail park rent. My overheads are a van and my tools, and my prices show it.

Watch it happen

See the old parts come off. Ask questions. No more wondering whether the job was actually done.

Nobody upselling you

No service desk, no monthly parts target. Just what your car needs, explained before I start.

Warranty stays intact

Independent servicing to the manufacturer’s schedule keeps your new-car warranty. That’s the law, not a loophole.

Garage vs driveway

Same job, same parts, same guarantee. Different everything else.

The tools fit in a van. What doesn’t fit in a van — the showroom, the service desk, the waiting room — is what you’re paying for at a garage.

Where it happens
Driveway: Your driveway or work car park. The car never moves.
Garage: Their workshop. You drive over, drop off, and sort a lift home.
Your time
Driveway: Carry on with your day while the work happens outside.
Garage: Half a day gone between drop-off, waiting and pick-up.
Who does the work
Driveway: Callum, every time. 5 years on the tools, City & Guilds Level 3.
Garage: Whoever’s free on the day. You’ll rarely meet them.
Seeing the work
Driveway: Stand and watch. See the old parts come off. Ask anything.
Garage: Behind the workshop door. You get a phone call.
The price
Driveway: Agreed before I start. Pay when it’s done.
Garage: An estimate, then a call about “advisories” mid-job.
Upselling
Driveway: No service desk, no parts targets. Just what the car needs.
Garage: The desk has monthly targets. Add-ons are the business model.
Your warranty
Driveway: Servicing to the manufacturer’s schedule keeps it intact — that’s the law.
Garage: Same cover. Dealers just imply otherwise.

To be fair to garages: MOT tests, wheel alignment and gearbox rebuilds need a ramp. For those I’ll tell you straight and point you to someone good.
